Well, it's been a long month since this sequel came out, and I was a bit wary about whether this was going to be better than its predecessor. Although my sister is a negative Nancy when it comes to movies and this is the same sister that worships Harry Potter for which I have nothing against but she also has copies of all four 50 Shades of Grey books, and so, saying Ready or Not 2 to make my sister negative always gets me off in a not so, creepy way.
After surviving an all-out attack from the Le Demos family, Grace (Samara Weaving) discovers she's reached the next level of the nightmarish game, and this time with her estranged sister, Faith (Kathryn Newton), by her side. To survive, Grace must keep Faith alive and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the World. Four rival families are also hunting her for the throne, and however wins will rule it all.
I'll even admit when I first saw the trailer to the sequel, I was a bit weary in terms of okay you made a perfect movie in first Ready or Not film, why mess with perfection? And to the films credit yes, this sequel is basically the same as the first film if you pit these two together frame by frame, they're basically the same structure just with bigger things or bigger risks as I would say in a better way to describe it. Tough to the films credit this film really does hold its own in terms of story and more importantly character development and a lot of that goes to both actresses Samara Weaving and Kathryn Newton. Originally the writers/directors both had the idea of Grace having a sister in the first movie, unfortunately that didn't happen so when Searchlight Pictures asked them about a potential sequel both men behind Radio Silence and the first film told them about the sisters storyline and each party agreed. And I personally believe that both Weaving and Newton really hold their own in terms of character development as well as something to root for, furthermore I just love a good sibling drama/comedy like the same way Thor: Ragnarök has with both Thor and Loki. The other thing in what makes this film so great is that it has a satisfying ending, and I'm going to stop with that because I want all of you to watch this entertaining sequel from beginning to end, so, just think of it as John Wick killing the devil cult. Shawn Hatosy who plays one of the main antagonists does a great job, because through the course of the movie he at first looks like he's weak but then evolves into a unlikeable psychopath which is great exploration of a antagonist if you ask me and even Elijah Wood does a great job playing a mysterious lawyer who works for the devil whose both charming and serious but more importantly respectful to the fellow protagonists. No doubt the sequel has the same story structure as the first film with the same gimmicks as well as jokes but for me personally what holds the film all together is the sister storyline and the ending for which I still say is fantastic and I'm not going to spoil anything because I watched this film a twice as well as watching the ending a bunch of times and so, I would strongly suggest checking the film out on Hulu or watch the film on your kids Disney Plus account in case of you wanting to pull a derange prank on your wife and kid though if you don't want to that's perfectly fine, I mean personally it's not like you’re going to have him watch these films back to back.
