Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

Well, I'm nearing the very end of the Jason Voorhees franchise and this time he takes his act to Manhattan. Though the sad news is that Jason lost his chance to take Manhattan alongside the Muppets hence Muppets take Manhattan in case all your young bloods don't get that reference. Although even if Jason was able to take Manhattan, he would have ended up in the wrong New York City or well, wrong Manhattan. But don't worry, we’ll get to that later.
Mass Murderer Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) is resurrected from the bottom of Crystal Lake. After he kills a passing boat's occupants, he stows away on a cruise ship filled with high-school graduating class bound for New York City.
So, yeah, I kind of hate to spoil the plot of Jason Voorhees Part 8, but he really doesn't take Manhattan, he basically must spend a good portion of the movie on a cruise ship and then in the final thirty minutes of the movie he reaches Manhattan. Although they're not necessarily in New York City, they had to shoot the entire film in Canada but with secondary Photography of shots in New York City, and yet strangely enough the film was only made for like 5 million dollars to make for which I'm strongly concerned in terms of where did the money go? Like sure, it's expensive to shoot in New York City but there's not recognizable actors or hell any major stars, I think what may have happened was that the box-office disappointment to A New Blood happened they decided to cut the budget since I would assume the horror fans, we're getting a little exhausted side to the Jason and Freddy films. I will admit after Jason Lives and watching both New Blood and Jason Takes Manhattan I have to admit; I'm getting a little on the disappointing flank myself. I mean it's been September since I watched A New Blood and at times it gets meh, in terms of entertainment granted there was the grass cutter scene and the sleeping bag scene, but with Jason Takes Manhattan there's absolutely not entertaining kills and I'm not expecting a whole lot with the actors but I mean give me some entertaining kills, like that's the many reasons why we watch these movies well, that and the unintentional comedic humor that the cast provides but I mean nothing exciting was going with the actors hell the only drama and scariness I got was hoping the dog made it okay, and spoilers the dog does live for which I give a ton of respect because not body wants to see cute animals die and even actor Kane Hodder stated that he refused to do monstrous acts to a dog saying that it's not Jason's character and that he's a villain but he's not a monster for which I agree a hundred percent. Granted there was only one humorous kill and that's where this guy is punching Jason till he gets tired and tells him to show him what he's got, and then just proceeds to punch his head clean off and that's it I mean it's funny but it took long for the punch line. I'm starting to sense and this is coming from after watching the final Elm Street films and that's Jason goes to Hell maybe a buzz kill as well until we finally get to Jason X for which is still to this day the greatest Jason movie in the Friday the 13th franchise. I'd say watch this film but then again I have mixed feelings with Jason Takes Manhattan, like it has moments but there very slim moments for which if you’re going to watch part 8 at least watch it when it's on YouTube for free, that way you don't have to waste your time buying the movie or renting the movie.
