July Recommendation: Ali
I usually don't recommend a Will Smith movie, because well, his movies usually range from meh to my goodness this is terrible. But after stumbling into his portrayal of famous boxer Muhammad Ali moreover directed by Michael Mann, all I can say is intrigued. For a little history lesson to newbs who've never heard of Muhammad Ali he was originally named Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. he became wildly successful for his full energy cockiness and a activist during the civil rights movement. After beating Sonny Liston to gain the heavyweight champion, he later converted to Islam and renamed himself Muhammad Ali. Though he wasn't given respect he had to fight for it with the Federal Government and the rest of the world to prove that he's the greatest. Even though some consider him controversial I would say of all famous boxers’ out there Ali reigns supreme.
The film is set from 1964-1974; basically it chronicles his title over Sonny Liston, converting to Islam and his conflict with the Vietnam War, then his return to boxing and his battle with George Foreman.
Now I'll admit I'm usually not interested in a Will Smith movie but this film he actually does a great job embodying Ali and not just playing a Will Smith version of Ali, just like the way Chadwick Boseman embodied the playing style of Jackie Robinson moreover the emotions. Smith does a great job embodying the physicality of Ali furthermore the cockiness he had when preparing a fight. And to be truthful that what you need when playing such iconic sports figures like Ali. Jon Voight does an excellent job playing the legendary broadcaster Howard Cosell, and I was surprised that was him because when I saw his credit I was like so where is Jon Voight I don't see him anywhere furthermore I had to look it up on Wikipedia and realized ooooooohhhhhh, that's who he plays and my goodness that's a great transformation so hat goes off to him in getting into character. I like the fact that Smith's wife Jada is playing Ali's first wife and when it comes to sex scenes she of all actresses in the film is the one to have with her husband, imagine she's going to the writers and saying "look here writer's that there's my hubby anyone whose going have a sex scene with him it's going to be me". The only complaint I have with the movie is that it's a bit choppy at times moreover was a bit to fast when it comes to the flow of the movie especially when we see Ali at the top and he's all of a sudden lost his boxing license. All and all this was a good and entertaining movie from start to finish and worth my recommendation for this month of July so if your in for a sports movie this is definitely worth seeing.

June Recommendation: Hell or High Water
I'm starting to run out of ideas to
recommend, I guess the only way to describe it is that I have critic block or I
don't feel like it. But luckily one movie I truly recommend is still on Netflix
and to be honest if there's any movie I would recommend this summer it would be
Hell or High Water. A fantastic modern western really that takes a big look on
the modern world, and the idea that its about two brothers who are trying to
save their mothers ranch by robbing the banks of the people who happen to own
that piece of land is truly an amazing touch to add and yet I still don't
understand why this film didn't win any awards at the Oscars for 2016. Moreover
the film itself has some great list of actors along with Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine
and Ben Foster, so you really can't go wrong with these performances in this
great western tale about not having your own follow in the same footsteps as
you have.
Toby (Chris Pine) is a divorced father who's trying to make a better life for
his son. His brother Tanner (Ben Foster) is an ex-convict with a short temper
and a loose trigger finger. Together, they plan a series of heists against the
bank that's about to foreclose on their family ranch. Standing in their way is
Marcus, a Texas Ranger (Jeff Bridges) who's only weeks away from retirement. As
the siblings plot their final robbery, they must also prepare for a showdown
with a crafty lawman that’s not ready to ride off into the sunset.
Why I like this movie so much mainly its written by the same guy Taylor
Sheridan who also written and directed by Wind River, so there's another movie
you defiantly need to watch. But what makes this movie amazing is that its
about being poor all your life and being able to do whatever it took make a
better life for your own kin and not letting them follow in the same footsteps
as you've walk in furthermore the decision's you made along the way. Moreover
what's not to love about two brothers sticking it to Bank that's trying to
foreclose your own home? Now I'm not saying all of the characters in the movie
are good in the way people think, but if I had to pick the true villain in this
movie it would be Jeff Bridges character mainly reason's why is that he
embodies everything about doing things by the book and always looking down on
people and judging them for having done the wrong things and not letting them
go, and the best way to describe his character is that in one scene he
interrogating a waitress who seen and talked to Chris Pine's character and
mentions that he left a good two hundred bucks for a tip and Bridges character
says he needs that money for evidence but the waitress says no and still says
no because she's using that for her own kids, and I think that what describes
his character is that he's more about the law than trying to make a living that
people in the state of Texas are still trying to struggle on making. Chris Pine
to me is the protagonist in the movie the same with Ben Foster, even though
there both different in their own motives, Pine's character is really driven in
making a better life for his two sons making sure that they don't follow in the
same footsteps as he made, and if you don't believe that's what makes a good
father then I don't know what is. Ben Foster on the other hand is an ex-convict
with a huge but mild temper though with all his major flaws he's still able to
help his own brother because that's what family does despite being raised the
wrong way. Along with some great visual scenery by Ben Mackenzie and with a
fantastic screenplay by an amazing writer of Taylor Sheridan comes and amazing
movie. And so that's basically the many things why I love this movie and
consider it one of the many greatest movies of all time for me, so if you have
a Netflix account I would suggest watching it right now.

Doom Eternal
Finished this amazing first person shooter game of the recent reinvention to
the Doom franchise and I am not going to like easy level kicked my ass, and it
wasn't even pretty it was like trying to figure out Shao Kahn out in MK 2011,
and still not getting any close to finishing the game, uh so frustrating
sometimes. Okay, back to Doom Eternal now a side from the difficulty in
finishing a level furthermore dealing with the pain in the ass demon's with the
axe and shield combo oh dear god I do not want to get started with those guy.
Now don't get me wrong this was an amazing game from start to finish but all
the adrenaline kicking in with the heavy metal music to blur my gaming I was in
my own mind thinking "oh I'm sorry is this your friend? Don't worry he
died doing what he loved being a dumb f**king demon".
The end of the world is upon us, well
for Doom guy that basically smells cooked bacon in the morning. As Doom Guy
does what Doom Guy does best, people try to tell him to stop his rampage. Well
as Dikembe Mutombo would say "NO, NO, NO, NOT TODAY".
Now to be brutally honest there's no
need to describe this games amazingness because really, this game speaks for
itself. I am not going lie I had to take my time on this game mainly because of
the adrenaline kicking in moreover being scared demons coming from behind me,
plus the attention is outstanding specifically when your shooting at the
demons, parts of their flesh start to fall out, a side from the blood and gore
which is also awesome too. Now I'm going to say this when you start playing
this game make sure you start at the easiest level, because the easiest level
kicked my ass specially when there's a ton of courses that are on the difficult
side of insanity specially when you got demons lurking around. The Demon with
the axe that guy is difficult as hell, and I'll explain it in the best
possibility when your attacking demons they keep getting closer and when you
shoot at them they begin to weaken but when your battling those guys they can
block your moves so you have to be in mid range in order to defeat them.
Speaking of shooting demons you have to move every time you’re shooting at them
and if you try to use strategy your dead so whenever your playing just
improvise. The story sounds ridiculous, I mean look why do you need an origin
story for Doom Guy because all the guy is about is killing that's it just say
the he's was a resurrected from the Crusade and stuff, either way that really
doesn't matter because we're all about killing demons inside. Anyway great game, from start to finish. So
if you want to play something new during this pandemic of madness, I would
highly recommend this great game to play.

Hardcore Henry
Decided to go through my Blu-Ray collection for at least something to watch
since, well we're still in a so called lock down. Luckily I found a movie that
I still think is awesome after watching it four years ago in the theaters,
Hardcore Henry a film that takes first person action to the next level. Russian
filmmaker Ilya Naishuller first started the first person camera work while
directing majority of his music videos with his Rock Band he does on the side.
Then he decided to use his skills to make a movie through the first person
perspective using Go-Pro camera's. Now that's what I call a man making it work
moreover making something new and different. Even got help from Wanted director
Timur Bekmambetov to help finance the movie along with Sharlto Copley in
probably one of his best one man performances. And I got to say watching this
film again was still amazing to see. I know a lot of people didn't quite
understand this film, which explains why it didn't receive a whole lot of respect
but honestly I don't care what most people think I consider this as one of the
best underrated film of the last decade and also, for a movie that only cost 2
million dollars to make plus made back 16.8 million dollars at the box office
that's got to be impressive.
Awaken in a mysterious laboratory with no memory of his
past, Henry is brought back to life by Estelle (Haley Bennett) who claims to be
Henry's wife. All of a sudden Henry's life becomes in danger when a strange
mercenary Akan (Danila Kozlovsky) abducts his wife. With the help of complex
man named Jimmy (Sharlto Copley) they plan to rescue Henry's wife furthermore
destroy Akan's army before its too late.
Now when I actually saw the trailer for the first time I
was actually intrigued from the look and the idea of a first person action
film, plus I'm a man who just wants to see something new and different. And I
still think this film is great film from start to finish. And the way they coordinate
a lot of the action sequences is really impressive and exciting to watch hell I
some times look up those scenes on YouTube and it still amazes me on how they
were able to make those shots look good. I think one of my favorite action
sequences is where Henry is chasing a guy all of Moscow and the fact that you’re
able to look how dangerous some of those stunts look and how creative some of
the transitions are sometimes. The fact that the films cost about 2 million is
really impressive because I actually thought that the film cost a lot to make
but the way they were able to make the film at least 2 million bucks is
amazing, hell I can go further and consider it a great low-budget action movie
even though I don't know a whole lot of them other than El Mariachi by Robert
Rodriguez. Sharlto Copley does an amazing job playing a complex character who
in a sense have a dozen or so multiple personalities and the way he's able to
go from one side of his character to another is incredible and I got to give
him credit to work outside the box, Haley Bennett does good work playing this
mysterious woman who you know is the reason for Henry to keep going but you
don't know a whole lot about her. It's still strange to me that this film
didn't receive a whole lot of respect because I thought the story is solid the
action sequences are the most creative aspect I've seen in any other action
film to date. All though you can't win all respect from people, furthermore I
guess people can't handle to much of the first person experience, but if you
haven't seen this film I would strongly suggest watching this film during the
pandemic were in now, and I promise you won't be disappointed from beginning
till the end.

Father's Day Recommendation: Field of Dreams

The Eddy
Damien Chazelle creator of Whiplash and La La Land co-directs a limited series on Netflix that I really suggest staying away from. But if you’re in need of a binge watch I would highly suggest folding your laundry or sort out your football or baseball card collection. And yes sure I would think people are saying right now that Damien Chazelle can do know wrong when it comes with a series about Jazz music set in Paris but to be honest it's more about the slowness of the show that I'm not particularly fond of, especially when you really don't like the main protagonist as well. but well get to him for sure. But I need to get started and warn all of you why this is a show you should not watch during this pandemic unless you want to die of boredom.
Basically the series is set in Paris where it's set in a Jazz club called the Eddy, The owner of the Club is also the creator of the band that sings every night. Though things start to get interesting, when his best friend and co-owner of the club, is in some dangerous water's with the mafia. Though the course of the show consists of a ton of drama though not the best kind plus as we all know in Paris finding love in the not so right but wrong places as well.
Now sure the music was great to listen and all, but it's really the characters and the storytelling that I personally have a hard time taking serious. So lets talk about the character's because their the main reason why I don't like about the show, and it's not that their unoriginal but it more that they are all pieces of shit, moreover if your going to give me a series to watch you should at least get me to like them give them a personality that I can look at and say these guys are really fun to watch, but no for one the main character is such in a-hole that I just have a hard time liking and has a lot to do with him not seeking help from everybody pushing everyone aside through the course of seven episodes. Yeah that's right all he does is being a super d*ck through the course of it all and it only takes him till the seventh episode to realize how terrible of a person he is, and I'm sorry but you have to give me at least two to three episodes max to at least like the guy don't take up the whole series to show me how big of a d*ck he can become, then I just loose interest and don't ever want to watch it but granted now that I finished this waste of time I don't ever want to watch this show ever again. Oh I almost forgot about him criticizing his own band for being awful though he can't play because he's has a so called tragic back-story about his own son, now I can understand that in a way, but if your being a d*ck to me than I'm going to be a d*ck right back and tell you to get your a** up there play if your so good. Even the love interest bothers me because she either loves the guy then she hates him, she loves the guy then she hates him, then she decides to leave him which I was hoping she was going to leave, but no she decides to stay and love him, for which I was like aw come on he's never going to change. Though the only character that's developed more and becomes human is the daughter and she gets her sh*t together till at least the third episode, so really all the other characters suck except for her, now I know people have problems I get it but you don't waste my time to watch them become children throughout the entire show moreover a pain in my own a** and I don't even have one. The storytelling is also lame because its in hour long episodes each and I have to hear them be children, like again you have to give some witty dialogue or some interesting characters that I can use otherwise I get bored out of my mind with characters that have problems and I as a viewer don't want to hear peoples problems cause I already have problems of my own that I got do deal with, even the ending was just terrible because it leaves with a bleak ending of us viewers not knowing what happens next and I'm sorry but that's not enough for me if your going to give me a series that bore's me to death I should at least have some closure in the end. I guess all and all when you win an Oscar, you can half a** when it comes to upcoming projects that's basically when it comes to celebrities in Hollywood so thanks America. So listen if your into La La Land or Whiplash I would suggest staying away from this latest creation because you'll be bored out of your own mind like I was.

May's Recommendation: Molly's Game
Aaron Sorkin famous writer behind A Few Good Men, Moneyball and Steve Jobs, comes his first directorial debut, plus he also writes the films as well but I at least add that his resume to this film. Furthermore its also on Netflix as well, so now since we're in this never ending realm of madness, we're we all have stay inside, okay I'm getting tired of explaining our situation anyway so hey it's Molly's Game based on a true life Molly whose who got tired being in Olympian and decided to constructed or own poker empire. Moreover this film became May Recommendation, for which stars Jessica Chastain in her best performance since Zero Dark Thirty, also has Kevin Costner in his biggest upgrade since Draft Day.
The film tells the story of real life Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain) a former Olympian skier who after a bad accident decides to take in adventure to California, there she begins to see a new way to make money by booking actual poker games for movies stars and the wealthiest individuals. With so much success through the years it begins to turn out of hand once she sees the Russian Mob getting in plus being convicted by the Federal Government it, can she be able to sell out people to start a new life or be live through the consequences.
Now I will admit Chastain does have a lot of hit and misses, I mean ever since I watched Miss Sloane I was disappointed in the movie and her performance moreover was disappointed in her comedy work on Saturday Night Live as well, here's a rule of thumb if your a celebrity and hate Donald Trump don't just focus on one guy focus on a bunch of politics, there all terrible human beings anyway, okay now that I got that out of my system. So all that a side, Chastain actually does a great job playing a real life person who actually has some issues with her father, and though granted this movie is predictable and yes it actually has a rise in fall story line for which all real life people have sometimes but to be honest it's actually fascinating to see her go through all this dispense and betrayal and yet be able to create in empire like she did and plus its also not a three hour movie were its nothing but stock brokers doing drugs and banging hookers, sorry had to vent on how much I hate Wolf of Wall Street. Furthermore the film also has Kevin Costner playing the father to Molly Bloom I mean if that's not another great actor acting along with Jessica Chastain than I don't know what its, also these two actually have a great acting scene together where they both share their own emotions moreover showing a father express how much he failed his own kid is a real tender moment, so I got to give Sorkin some bonus points in casting Costner as the father to Chastain because I would look at this movie way differently if he wasn't in the film. For a first time director Aaron Sorkin actually does a great job, even for a man who’s been in writer's chair all those years with some talented directors, directing his stories so now watching him direct and write at the same time is really amazing to watch, so now I hope he starts directing more which is a big if. So in conclusion this film was really great to watch from start to finish along with some great actors who actually checked their ego bags out of the window in order to pull off a entertaining movie to watch on Netflix. So if you still hate the way the new decade is going and trust me we all hate this the way this year is going I would strongly take the time and watch Molly's Game.

Doom: Annihilation
Fan of the previous Doom games; even consider those as one of the best first person shooters after my downfall of Call of Duty. And yet out of no where they've already made another movie to the Doom series, and no it doesn't have the Rock because he's already had a colonoscopy, so no more taking a crap on scripts for him. I mean sure, I can blame myself in wanting to watch this with the realization that movies and video games really don't mix today judging with the fact that most writers, directors and producers do really play video games. But since were living in mad, mad world of having to stay in doors I figured why not watch it on Netflix. Now I got to get this out of my system, this movie felt like it was made for just five cents and they just paid the actors free lunches, moreover the demons looked way to beyond the realm of fraudulent. So let's talk about Doom: Annihilation and why you should not watch this on Netflix.
The movie centers around a group of marines who wake up from cryosleep (apparently the director has an obsession of Alien), and are tasked to head for moon to secure and investigate the happenings on the Moon. There they discover demons have taken over the base (SHOCKER) and the main doctors have discovered teleportation to another world aka Hell and the head Doctor doesn't want to shut it down. Now if a Doctor doesn't want to shut something down you should make that man play Russian roulette, sorry not sorry. So, all and all this just basically turns into a fight to the death to see who will survive in the end.
A side from the filmmakers acquiring some, minor key elements from the game. I still have problems and a lot of has to do with making a good Doom movie then why making a Doom movie, so for starters if I'm being paid to come up with an idea for a possible Doom movie I would just use the same concept id software used in their 2016 game where Doom Guy wakes up from a so called slumber in a disillusioned state where he need to fight off the demon horde where they apparently are robotic for some reason and just go on from there with this all there doing is just referencing all of the Alien and Predator movies out there were its either the man or woman whose the last standing and that is just not how it works anymore I know it good for money purposes but not for those who've played Doom since it was created. Which brings to my other point, why is it so hard to even adapt a video game into a movie, I mean sure games now are becoming more of movies themselves like Uncharted or The Last of Us, but games like Halo or Mortal Kombat or, hell even Street Fighter you can develop your own stories around these characters if you just take the time do some research and for god sake's at least be original too, just because its a video game doesn't mean you get to rehash ideas from other past films. So look deep down if your a fan of the games and have in urge to watch something like this, just stick to games don't waste your time with a movie where they don't care a whole lot of source material just wanting to rehash old movies and try to create something new for once.

Upload
My cold heartless brother told me to get this done. But I said I accidentally shoot myself in the leg with a rock while using the mower,
He looked at me with his cold eyes and said: “Well both your hands work”.
So here I am having just watched Greg Daniels’s new show Upload.
Before we move on Greg Daniels the guy who brought you the Office, Parks and Recreation, and he worked on the Simpsons when it was funny. So instead of watching 6 hours a day of the history channel, I took the time to watch Upload and it is awesome. Yes, you heard me it’s not just a Syfy show it’s a murder mystery
it has an interesting take on the afterlife cool dance numbers and if you don’t buy that it’s also funny.
Nathan lives in a world where you can buy your afterlife and upload yourself to the internet.
When he has a car wreck Ingrid convinces him to upload this is where the fun begins.
I know what you’re saying this doesn’t sound like any type of a remake from the 1980s or 90s.
You would be right. It’s also not a comic book that was written by Allan Moore, don’t stop reading just yet.
With the End of the world upon us, we can afford are selfies to take chances on new and exciting things.
Plus, and with good storytelling, its only 30 mins an episode and that’s only a 3-hour run time so there you go.
Ok back on the subject this has a lot of wonderful actors here that i am sure you will see more off
Andy Allo plays Nathans guide or angel Zainab Johnson plays Andy best friend and
she is funny every scene she is in. But hats off to Robbie Amell who plays a playboy man-baby with a heart of gold, he pulls Nathans charter arc off extremely well. Now I have jumped off the subject for just a few sentences. I have an 11-year-old nephew and sometimes you get stuck watching kid shows and every now and then you see an actor who breakthrough. This gives the revelation that Robbie Amell is my favorite Fred Jones in Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins, so take that Freddie Prinze Jr.

Jerry Seinfeld: 23 hrs to Kill
Now granted I'm familiar with Jerry Seinfeld and his 90's sitcom, despite the fact that I'm binge watching on the show because well, I got nothing better to do so I need something to ignore when I'm typing. Though I'll give him complements on his show (even though some moments in his apartment he has a Met's hat then a Yankee's hat in the background, not quite sure if he's a Met's fan as he claim's or a Yankee's fan) because he does have some great hilarious moments but then he sometimes fall's flat in some of his bits. So now with his latest comedy show out now on Netflix I figured why not check this out. And I'm not going to lie I actually found some of jokes quite funny.
Basically he talks about his hole view on email, texting being married at the age of sixty-five furthermore realizing that he'd rather hang out with married men than single dudes all while telling all the ladies and wives that Men are trying to be nice but not sure how to. Now, this is my first ever review of a comedy special so sue me if I didn't mention any thing he talked about so to be honest, I'm thirty-three years old and witnessing him mention things that are going on in the world like texting and emails I got to say I thought it was funny, and sure there times when you feel that Seinfeld is a bit of a hit and miss and yes he is. But his latest show he actually does a good job, so if your bored moreover loosing your mind like Jack Nicholson always does when he's acting further more wanting to try something new, when it comes to your watching entertainment then I would check out Seinfeld's latest comedy special. Also the man did create in ingenious joke about Gilligan's Island on SNL if you give a man credit for that then there's something wrong with humanity.

Extraction
Tell you what, to everyone planing there movie you need lots of things but number one is making sure you have the script ready to go. Not just one draft, Shakespeare made changes to his plays, and the guy who co-directed 4 marvel movies with is brother could have probably used this advice. So yes I hated this movie really hated this movie. It's like Someone gave Steven Seagal 65 million to make the movie Half Past Dead but with the good sense not to cast Ja Rule. Hey, a nice thing I could say about this movie is it had the good sense not to cast Ja Rule. Or is that a bad thing, because I would love to see that movie, was Ja promises thor a kick-ass music festival and steals thors money and leaves him on some island and thor is out for revenge. Ok, that's probably going too far but that movie I just pitched probably makes a better script then Joe Russo train wreck.
In Extraction, Miley Cyrus ex-brother inlaw plays Tyler Rake a guy with a death wish. Unlike the guy in the movie Death Wish we see what made Charles Bronson sad. That's why right here I am going to give you one abe screenwriters some advice show don't tell really making a movie is a visual medium. We go into Helmsworths being drop into some bad place where he has to rescue a kidnapped son of a gangster. Every part of this movie from here on out can be seen in any regular action movie these days. Copying and pasting action secure from other more original movies rather than trying something new is Hollywood these days but still frustrating when you see a lost opportunity like this movie. I will give Extraction this the acting is superb the actors give you compelling characters to watch. When the movie slows down in some places Helmsworth chews the scenery very well. Hats off to Rudhraksh Jaiswal a kid with a bright future. David Harbour shows up also and dose some heavy breathing and then you don't see him again. The last shout out is to Saju Rav he plays a hell of a badass than you wish he was in a better movie.
In closing a Shakespeare once said just because you can hit someone with a truck doesn't mean you should. Instead, add something that adds depth to your charters so as the audience we will care about them when something happens to them. Now that was probably not an exact quote by Shakespeare English literature was a long time ago. But if he was alive today I would like to think he would tell Joe Russo that he was available to write him a much better script. Or he probably would have better things to do since he is Shakespeare. Now let give some love to Director Sam Hargrave I understand you might not have the script but you can tell David Harbour to stop with the over the top breathing yes we get it violence is bad. If the audience cared about that we would be watching the office for the 3rd time. You could also not focus on charters you don't have time to set up. Or build up charters and not deliver a payoff. So in the end, -4 stars because why not don't see this movie if you're looking for something to do and you have gone through your Netflix subscription you could I don't know maybe stare at a blank wall. That would at least tell the Russo brothers not to leave marvel so soon.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge
You know you got your Mortal Kombat gameplay going when you've just witness an awesome yet enjoyable Mortal Kombat film. And know I'm not talking about the original 90s film nor the TV series Mortal Kombat Conquest (which now I kind of want to re-watch that series). Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge focuses around your favorite demon ninja Scorpian along with Liu Kang, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade for which takes place around the very first Mortal Kombat story-line where four characters take a journey through choices and fate brings them together to fight the forces of evil. Now I'm a big Mortal Kombat junkie I love the video games through the PS2 versions through the latest Mortal Kombat and even the Moral Kombat arcade collection on the PS3. And I will go in debate and say that Mortal Kombat is a hundred times better than Street fighter, so if you love Mortal Kombat than you'll love this latest animated film. And let's not forget Soup legend Joel McHale is the voice of Johnny Cage, now not physically right for the role but voice wise I'd by that.
Mostly focuses around the three Earthrealm warriors Liu Kang, Cage and Sonya Blade. But, gives the origin story to Scorpian. After witnessing the massacre of his clan, horrified by the death of his wife and child by the hands of Sub-Zero. Hanzo Hasashi goes through hell to give a chance to seek his revenge unfortunately he gets his opportunity with the help of Quan Chi, he is granted new life and a new name Scorpian. Along with the other warriors Liu Kang Cage and Blade, they both begin to realize that this tournament they are fighting for, is real a fight for the fate of the world. With Scorpion concerned about his vengeance he must chose whether to continue his quest for blood live in the future and fight for the sake of humanity.
Now I will say this till the day I die that Mortal Kombat is one of the greatest video game series ever created by human hands and I will even say a hundred times better than Street Fighter so if your a huge street fighter fan furthermore offended by what I just said then feel free to express your opinion. Now that being said I still enjoyed the movie from start to finish and yet I still have some major issues about the movie, what I loved about the movie is that there's so much gore and blood in the movie that you definitely could not see in a live action film and the animators did a fantastic job in staying true to that source, what I also love about the movie is the fact that it's not just Scorpion's origin story that gives credit but it also gives credit to the earthrealm warriors back story as well for example Sonya who we see go through her hole life being bullied and abused in the army, because she's a woman furthermore we see her drive to succeed, rather than just being a woman consumed with vengeance or non trust to others. The major problem I have with the movie is the portrayal of Johnny Cage and yes he's suppose to be this egotistical actor whose all about himself but with this movie he's just way to dumb and I myself found that a terrible idea and no offense to Joel McHale's performance because he did a good job playing the egotistical part of Cage but I kind of wanted to see a different version of him that I've never seen. The other thing I didn't like about was the ending to the film and don't worry I'm not spoil anything but there were just some moments but the fact that there no huge battle involved just Scorpian's is kind of a let down to be honest almost like Kitana just being in five minutes of the film and then disappears with out a trace. Now that being said I really enjoyed the movie had a blast with it since hell I'm no back to playing Mortal Kombat again so obviously this movie was fun, so if your a huge fan of the MK games than you have a blast with this animated film.

Once Upon a Time in the West
All fans of westerns should know Sergio Leone's groundbreaking Western trilogy about the Man with No Name. Well this film of his pretty much fell off my radar, thank goodness we have Netflix. And even though I have mixed thoughts about this movie I can't denies its well crafted direction and great standoff through out the entire film, also some great performance work from both Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda. Furthermore a really good performances from gorgeous, Claudia Cardinale. So if you’re a huge fan of the Dollars Trilogy or all of Sergio Leone's films than this will definitely be a movie to watch in our time of madness of staying in doors.
While heading towards her future family, later to find them being massacred by a mysterious gang. Jill (Claudia Cardinale) tries to find ways to survive only to later find that a mysterious gunslinger (Charles Bronson) and a well known bandit (Jason Robards) have a lot in common. As an ill Rail Baron (Gabreile Ferzetti) plans to make a move in buying the property that Jill's late husband was planning to use due to the water that's been discovered. Though wanting to claim fast, his enforcer (Henry Fonda) decides to gun down Jill's family anyway. Now realizing that the property is worth something, each one tries to make a profit while each one tires to settle vengeance and betrayal with blood. But as everyone knows that in the West one will stand, but who will be the one that will fall.
I will say this is by far a really good furthermore fascinating movie I've seen as always it's beautify directed by Sergio Leone, but yet with this movie he really does a great job creating characters with different motives also diving deep into the mind of a ruthless gunfighter. Also we get to see some great performances from veteran actors and some unknown actors, especially Henry Fonda whom I watched the Wrong Man one time, a film by Alfred Hitchcock who played a man worried about being convicted of a crime he didn't commit but is worried to the core about finding witness in his defense. But in this movie he's just savage as a ruthless gunfighter who’s trying to get ahead in the world even trying to overthrow his boss. Charles Bronson does an amazing playing a gunfighter whose mysterious past begins to drive Henry Fonda's character nuts in not knowing who he really is until the very end of the movie. And I have to admit Bronson's character is the best character in all westerns created, second only to Ethan Edwards in the Searchers. Claudia Cardinale who plays Jill does a great job playing women who do anything to survive even if it means picking a side with some of these worst people though some have heart, and does a great job flaunting her stuff. A side from this being a good movie from start to finish probably my biggest complaint I have with the movie was does it really have to be that long I mean sure it has some really great moment's and great intros and scenery but there's hardly much happening in the movie, like if your going to make a movie that's long at least have a blend of story and action when it comes to westerns. All and all this is defiantly a great movie from start to finish with great characters plus great performances also directed by the master of the spaghetti western's, so if your a fan of westerns and paranoid of this madness of being able to not doing anything fun I would suggest watching Once Upon a Time in the West though I also suggest drinking a ton of coffee maybe three cups max.

April Recommendation: The Death of Stalin
When I saw the wonderful news that this amazing well crafted dark comedy has finally arrived on Netflix I was jumping on my couch and screaming thank you God, and also Shivakanmini Somakandakram, The League check it out on Hulu. And now that is film is out on Netflix I as my sworn duty man of recommending great films, to review this movie. The movie I'm referring to is The Death of Stalin, a great politic dark/satire about what happens when the second worst dictator in history suddenly dies, and who will be the one to win the future of the Soviet Union and who will be the one to dig his own grave.
Set in the year 1953, Soviet Union after a night of drinking and watching old John Wayne movies. Dictator Joseph Stalin mysteriously dies, now major players of the Soviet politics are in chaotic tensions. With acting General Secretary (Jeffery Tambor) Georgi Malenkov is needed to take his place despite note sure of it, Stalin's main architect of terror Lavrentiy Beria (Simon Russell Beale) encourages him to take the leadership even though using Malenkov as puppet so Beria can succeeds in his goals. Political head Nikita Krushchev (Steve Buscemi) doesn't like the fact that Beria is using Malenkov for his personal uses. Now with Stalin's funeral almost near, Krushchev develops a plan that will change the course of history and the future of Russia.
A lot of people don't know the work of writer and director of the movie Armando Iannucci, he's well know for making ground breaking political satire's like as a ton of people well know like a certain HBO show Veep, but what got him huge success was his British version to Veep, The Thick of It for which starred the Twelfth Doctor himself Peter Capaldi, than later used Capaldi's character for his amazing movie In The Loop. So that was short bio of Iannucci's work let's talk about his well crafted film and why everyone on Netflix needs to see it. What really makes this film great in essence is the fact that a lot of the comedy work goes through the time and life of living in Soviet Union and wherever you go or say people are basically concerned if you said the write thing or the wrong thing, furthermore I think that's what makes this film funny is the fact that everyone is living in terror of Stalin's reign but yet too afraid to say the right or wrong answer. The entire cast in the movie makes this film great as well, now I know actor Jeffery Tambor is or still is in trouble for sexual allegation again I'm not quite sure if he still is, but to be honest I thought he does a great job playing a politician whose clearly a weak man when it comes to political power furthermore has has no idea what's currently happening in the term of events especially when he's being used. Simon Russell Beale does a tremendous job playing the wicked and dangerous Beria, who becomes extremely out of control once Stalin dies, though I should comment that Beale's character is by far scarier historical figure than Hitler and Stalin. Steve Buscemi is what makes this film amazing, moreover does a great job playing Krushchev and also if you haven't seen movies like Fargo, Reservoir Dogs or The Big Lebowski than your missing out, but bottom Buscemi does a great job with a lot of the dramatization of the movie as well. Even Jason Isaacs does a great job as well, I remember him first seeing him in the theaters as villain British soldier in the Patriot, and so in this he does great playing a bad ass like character but has a great blend of comedic work as well. So look, since we're all in contamination due to the madness that's happening right now. I'd suggest taking the time you have, and watch this great political satire.

Movies I haven't seen in a While: Resident Evil: Apocalypse
I'm trying something new for this mad house of a year, re-watching movies I haven't seen in quite some time. Now with movie I know it's a little too soon with what is happening in the world today. But if there was any film, I need to look back on its the Resident Evil sequels furthermore talk about the one that started this unnecessary saga. Now don't get me wrong I like the first film despite its humongous false and people never seeing a zombie movie before, I mean if this is set in the real world don't people have lives in which they've seen any of George Romero's films. Anyway, I was a young teen in my junior high years, and I thought the early Resident Evil movies were awesome, but now I kind of need to re-look at some movies I was obsessed with in my high school years.
Set after the events of the first movie, the idiots of Umbrella Corporation also known as the worst people you should trust. Decided to see what went on down in the Hive, again worst Corporation ever to trust specially when they let all the infected zombies and bio-hazard monster loose. Now the infection is spreading faster, Umbrella seals everyone off and leave them for dead. AGAIN, NEVER TRUST A CORPORATION THAT'S DESTROYING THE WORLD. So now a group of survivors led by Alice (Milia Jovovich) who somehow has super powers with the T-Virus, are on a mission with the help of the original creator of the T-Virus (Jarred Harris) whose daughter is trapped and Alice plus the others need to rescue her before Umbrella goes all Chernobyl on the city. Again, if Umbrella existed in the Cold War era, we'd all be screwed.
Now when I was a young teenager this was, I consider an amazing film and just blew my mind and that's basically what Resident Evil did for me I really believed that women can really pull off action movies instead of being the damsel in distress. And don't get me wrong the first movie was and always ridiculous, but at least that movie followed elements of the game. But with this sequel when you combine women doing mindless action plus using kung-fu martial arts on slow moving zombies, you’re not really doing anything new you’re just following in the footsteps of Stallone and Arnold and they can tell you scouts honor that some of their mindless action films like Commando and Judge Dredd was a terrible decision they made in their lives, though having to pay the bills is always the option but doesn't clean the lack of respect. What I don't quite understand is people's ability to not know what a zombie is, like if this is set in the real world wouldn't any normal person be able to have witness any of George Romero's movies, moreover if you see a person that doesn't look right or is walking funny or is making mindless growls then that's what we like to call a mindless zombie, and I'm sorry but using that kind of dialogue with today is not right at all. I mean if Paul W.S. Anderson was trying to take this seriously or taking the Uwe Boll route and being just supper lazy. Speaking of being lazy when we see action sequences we're all of the police forces are continuing to waste their bullets at the zombies and not having the slightest though of running, that alone is just hard to watch because me as an adult is screaming in my mind say why aren't these people running I mean for the love of God do people not know what the zombie apocalypse, if you’re in that world that means it every man for himself can't worry about taking out a horde of zombies unless you have explosives so then you can take them out. Even director Alexander Witt makes a small cameo as a sniper whose about to kill the survivors and really if I was in his mind, I would have said time to end this terrible movie, until Milia goes all Dikembe Mutombo on him, saying "not in my house", then running down on that stupid sequence. Now if I had a time machine I would go back to my junior high years and slap myself around and tell my teenager me to rethink your life and not pursue loving the Resident Evil movies. Though before closing it was nice to see Sir Jorah Moremont, aka Ian Glein making an appearance in the movie though it's a shame he needed the money to come back. So, in closing if you feel offended that I attacked this movie please tell me so I can ask you when the last time was, you saw this film.

March Recommendation: Ford v. Ferrari
I know I'm late on this latest review even though this movie has came out on Blu-Ray and DVD, and despite the fact that we're all under house arrest due to the Coronavirus. But for the sake of wanting to talk about good movies I figured I want to talk about this latest great racing movie. James Mangold famous for films like Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma and Logan comes a movie about one of the biggest rivalries in auto racing, Ford v. Ferrari staring both Matt Damon and Christian Bale as two great friends with different views but come together in one of the highest endurance races of all time. The 24 hours of Le Mans is the Super Bowl of auto racing where you must drive a French country road way for a whole day. But during the mid-sixties Enzo Ferrari was the king of Le Man until Henry Ford II decided to challenge him for the title. This brings us to this incredible story of friendship and beating the odds at both sides of the race.
During the mid-sixties Ferrari was the top sports car that everyone wants to have, but Ferrari was during going bankrupt during his chase of perfection. Henry Ford II decides to make him an offer in buying him out but with no one agreeing to each other's terms. Ford decides to challenge Ferrari himself at the 24 hrs. of Le Mans. Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) the only American whoever raced at Le Mans and one in 1959, becomes Ford's number one recruit in making this challenge happen. Shelby enlists the help of his closest friend Ken Miles (Christian Bale), the ill-tempered British Driver who has a must for the perfect car. With time coming short both friends must break all the odds furthermore the laws of physics in order to beat the unstoppable Ferrari at his own game while holding off the annoying corporation that is Ford Motor. And along the way both Ken and Carroll find out that friendship always win int the end no matter how different you are.
I know that it’s a nightmare despite the fact that we're all trapped in our own homes and can't go out to get some fresh air. But for the last day of March, I figured I pick a film of last year so you can have a chance to watch and have a great time, since all of our movie theaters are gone. To be honest what really makes this film great is the fact that they used very less of CGI in this movie and that they used more of the driver in the film then they do with the cars. And thank god High School and College history didn't teach me anything because I would not of been intrigued with this movie although I would despite the fact that it has Matt Damon and Batman aka Christian Bale two of the best actors on the planet. James Mangold director of the film does a great job of bringing this history to life moreover showing a epic side to the racing world at the time to an emotional conclusion to the end of the race. Also he does a great job of showing these character both the emotional side and the excitement side when it comes to racing in these cars and why they continue to do it despite the fact that their likely to die. Furthermore if you haven't seen any of Mangold earlier films like Logan and 3:10 to Yuma, then I would start your movie watching soon and fast. Both Damon and Bale does an excellent job of embodying these legendary racers also provide some great chemistry between them. So since we're all know what if feels like to be in a World War II POW camp by now. And if you’re into a movie to watch in this darkest time in our lives I'd say you need to check out Ford v. Ferrari because hands down I rank this as one of the best movies about auto racing in years.
